When it comes to glamour, few stars shine as brightly as Mariah Carey. Known for her five-octave vocal range, holiday chart-toppers, and lavish lifestyle, Mariah has also made headlines for her high-profile romances and the jaw-dropping engagement rings that came with them. Each ring tells a story of love, luxury, and of course, a whole lot of sparkle.

A Glimpse into Mariah’s Engagement History

Over the years, Mariah Carey has been engaged multiple times, with each relationship marked by a stunning ring that matched her diva persona. Her most famous engagements include her marriages to music executive Tommy Mottola and actor Nick Cannon, followed by her highly publicised (and later called-off) engagement to Australian billionaire James Packer.

While not all of these love stories led to happily-ever-afters, the rings they left behind are nothing short of iconic.

A Closer Look at the Rings

Tommy Mottola (1993):
Mariah’s first engagement ring was a classic choice. Mottola proposed with a yellow gold band set with a large emerald-cut diamond, estimated to be around 10 carats. At the time, it was the perfect symbol of a fairy-tale romance between the rising pop star and the Sony Music executive who helped launch her career.

Nick Cannon (2008):
Cannon surprised Carey with a custom-designed Jacob & Co. ring featuring a 17-carat pink diamond flanked by two half-moon diamonds. Estimated at $2.5 million, the ring perfectly matched Mariah’s ultra-feminine style. It was glamorous, bold, and unforgettable—much like their whirlwind romance that led to twins Monroe and Moroccan.

James Packer (2016):
Perhaps the most extravagant of all, Packer’s ring to Mariah was a jaw-dropping 35-carat diamond, worth a reported $10 million. Designed by Wilfredo Rosado, this emerald-cut sparkler was larger than life, just like the couple’s globe-trotting romance. Although the engagement was eventually called off, Mariah kept the ring, later selling it for $2.1 million in 2018.

Get the Look

The emerald cut diamond ring shares striking similarities in design and aesthetic, each features a prominent emerald‑cut diamond set in sleek platinum, flanked by tapered baguette side stones. The antique-style ring from AC Silver, hailing from around 1935, echoes the balanced vintage elegance seen in Mariah Carey’s 35‑carat engagement ring from James Packer.

In both pieces, the understated, clean lines of the baguettes highlight the central emerald cut without overpowering it, achieving a timeless Art Deco refinement. The emphasis on proportion—large central stones complemented by elegant simplicity—unites these two rings across eighty years of jewellery history.
